Les marques européennes de mode se tournent de plus en plus vers des ambassadeurs à la beauté asiatique. Dernier exemple date, Giorgio Armani, qui a choisi l’acteur japonais Takeshi Kaneshiro (Le Secret des poignards volants) comme ambassadeur de sa ligne de sous-vêtements. Il représentera la ligne automne-hiver 2008-2009 de la griffe italienne, tout comme le footballeur anglais David Beckham.
La maison française de luxe Chanel a de son côté choisi l’actrice Rinko Kikuchi (Babel), compatriote de Takeshi Kaneshiro, comme ambassadrice de sa collection « cruise » printemps été 2008.
Le joailler et horloger Piaget a quant à lui choisi de travailler avec Maggie Cheung (2046), actrice chinoise. Le géant des cosmétiques, L’Oréal, compte également depuis quelques années l’actrice d’origine malaisienne Michelle Yeoh (Tigre et Dragon) parmi ses célèbres ambassadrices de beauté.
